Hey everybody! Firstly, I want to send a huge thanks to YBP for providing me with her platform to reach you all. It’s really a pleasure to be here!
Now, one thing I can tell you about myself is that I absolutely LOVE gardening, and more specifically, practicing horticulture! Recently, I wrote a piece documenting my journey of growing a pineapple from a pineapple crown for the first time (you can follow my experience here), and considering that I’ve been nurturing this plant for over 2 years now, I have really grown attached to it!
Yes, THAT attached haha.
After making sure it didn’t get too dry, feeding it regularly, and sheltering it from the cold when winter rolled around, the sentimental value of this plant grew tremendously. And as a result, which I showcased in my previous article, my plant gifted me with a fresh, new pineapple! But I have a confession that I failed to reveal in that post…
That’s not my only pineapple plant! 😀
So, by request, I’m here to introduce you to my “growing” pineapple family 😉
It’s now November, and the temperatures have become suboptimal for my little beauties, so I’ve brought them inside to stay warm and comfortable. For my first guests, please meet the pineapple version of the Jackson 5, whom I dub the Piña 5! (Piña is Spanish for pineapple) 😀 Which one do you think is the “Piña” version of Michael Jackson?
To continue with my musician-naming parody, next up is Ike Piña! ☺
Ike is my oldest pineapple in the family, by a couple months. Earlier this summer, I had applied some foliar fertilizer that unfortunately was mixed at too high a concentration – not doing that again! Subsequently, the leaves experienced some burning which I had to prune off, and that may have stressed the plant out too much to consider producing a fruit this year. However, after bouncing back stronger than ever, I’m looking forward to next summer being its time to shine. *Fingers crossed*
Lastly, we have our main event…*drum roll please*…Tina Piña! 😀
Tina has really stolen the show this year, as she conceived a baby pineapple back in August and is still nurturing it to maturity. There are still at least a couple more months of growing left in her baby, so I’ll have to wait a little longer before sampling its organic goodness (yes, I grew it and all my other pineapples organically, while hand-picking any weedlings that sprouted). And in the midst of all this excitement, Tina had an additional surprise for us…can you see it from this picture? If not, let me help you out…
Now, can you see that little pineapple sucker poking its head through the foliage? That, my friends, is the newest edition to the family! Maybe you all can help me with some prospective names, as it grows into its own plant! ☺
See, what I have grown to learn and love about pineapples is that they are gifts that keep on giving, as long as you give them love! Pineapples, in my opinion, are a microcosm of how the universe works which dictates that what you put in, is what you get out of it. Although admittedly pineapples are so resilient, they don’t require much attention at all to perform well!
I will be continuing to track the progress of the Piñas, supplementing them with grow lights and a stable climate to keep them happy through the winter, so be sure to subscribe to our page at Science Lion Media so you can receive notification of my updated harvest post in a few months. Additionally, I plan on conducting different growing experiments over the upcoming years to optimize the quality of my harvested pineapples, so stay tuned!
That’s going to do it for me on this post, but make sure to try growing your own pineapple(s); you won’t regret it, at all. Much love everyone!

It is important to understand who we should thank and why we should be thankful. We have a specific day in November each year set aside for Thanksgiving. It is a fun day to get together with family and friends to eat. Sometimes we get ourselves worked up over all the details we put into […]
Hi I’m Yeka and I’m a Candy Crushaholic. Sigh. Or at least, I used to be. 😱😰😭
Phew! What a relief to admit it. Not like it’s a crime or anything, but some people may see it as an utter waste of time.
Okay let’s face it. I’m nearly half a century old and yet, I’m still a child at heart. 🥰
I confess. I play Candy Crush. Everyday. But in a “regulated manner” now – – – a huge improvement compared to years back when I would feel hopeless or irritable when I couldn’t advance to the next level. Ugh! Talk about the game getting the better of me! It made me feel sad and so I deleted the application from my iPhone haha!
Just recently, though, I re-uploaded the application into my iPhone out of sheer curiosity. They say that curiosity kills the cat. Well, I’m not a cat anyway! Purrrr!!! 🐱😜
So as I was saying, I was quite curious! I wanted to check if I could actually enjoy the game this time around with my Zen-inspired, cool-headed maturity. Hmm…… And boy, was I in for a treat. A truckload of treats in fact ….. Candy Galore!!!!! 🍭 💕 🍬💕🍬💕🍭 OMG!!! Woooow my eyes popped when I saw the menu offered: Candy Crush Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Candy Crush Friends Saga, Candy Crush Jelly Saga ….. 😳💛🙌
“Eew really?1?!” I can hear others say. “Isn’t that so yesterday as in ages ago? I mean, aren’t there cooler updated apps for brain massaging and relaxation?!?!”
Well, my message to them? “Just mind your your own business and eat your hearts out!” Or should I say, “Eat your CANDIES out?!?! Haha!”
Gosh, with the updated Candy Crush (and other related apps) landscape, my happiness bounced beyond the scale!
News Flash!!! I seem to have cracked the code because I can complete each level in nearly one try at the average of 5 minutes tops …. as if it were effortless to me this time around. Okay, that may be no mean feat for the Candy Crush Champions out there, but to me, that sure breaks my personal records. Aargh I used to exert so much effort in the game years back and mind you, with embarrassingly terrible results at that! This time around, though, I’ve learned to see the patterns and spot the optimal moves to make. I’ve become more strategic in approach. I’ve become more adept at focusing on the objective per round rather than being drawn to “fancy moves” just to have all the amazing colors splashing around. (And candidly, that’s always been a huge plus in terms of attraction for me: Colors, colors, and yes, even more happy colors!!!) ❤️💙💚💜🧡💛❤️
Ooohlala!! I get kick out of all the happy sounds and colors whenever I pass the level and I totally take in the whole happy “show” like a little child in her fantasy candy shop!
So what do I get out of the game? That is, aside from a good brain massage, a happy entertaining vibe with the coolest colors cum celebratory sounds, and the sensation that I’m a happy kid all over again?
I get tons of Life Lessons! 🥰❤️😘
Don’t take life too seriously. Take a breather. Relax. A relaxed mind smiles and functions optimally.
Laugh out loud. Yup, there’s a time and place for everything. So when you’re on play mode, have outrageous fun! Alright, let’s stick to clean outrageous fun. No need to go overboard and do a Joker laughter of some sort haha!
Stop and smell the roses. Stop and listen to the birds chirping. Stop and enjoy a stroll through nature. STOP. LOOK. LOVE.
Keep life simple. In simplicity is true beauty. With less, there is more.
Focus on the objective at hand. Stay true to your purpose. Be intentional with your day and how you live it.
Be in the moment. Be mindful. Be present. Maximize your relationshihps ….. both with yourself and others.
Be grateful for your present. You may not yet be in your aspired future, but you’re no longer in your past.
Stay true to your colors. Live in authenticity. Don’t pretend to be someone you’re not for you rob the world of your wonderful person that you are. Just be your awesome self.
Use positive affirmations: Divine! Awesome! Amazing! Champion! Winner! Kick-Ass! Superlative!
Never say never. Avoid limiting beliefs. Don’t bury yourself in negativity. Keep going. Keep fighting. Keep living. Keep loving.
Be situationally aware. Know where you are in life. Know your strengths and enrichment areas. Know the good and the bad influences that surround you too.
Recognize patterns. Observe patterns in your behavior (both positive and negative). Adjust accordingly. Observe patterns in the behavior of others too. Strengthen constructive patterns and avoid the destructive ones. Be alert to set boundaries when necessary.
Go with like-minded people. Nurture friendships with people who share your values, yet stay open to people who are different from you. You may gain fresh insights and learn valuable lessons. After all, no one has a monopoly over learning.
Develop team spirit. Learn to collaborate. Acknowledge and celebrate the strengths and passions of others and work well with them. Share your talents and forte. Bring a whole lot of excellence to the table!
Choose your path. To goodness. To health. To wealth. To wisdom. To caring. To sharing. To love.
Take ownership. This is your life. This is your journey. This is your story.
Be responsible for your moves. You always have a choice. You have response-ability. Thus, you have responsibility.
Trust the process. Don’t go against the tide of life. Learn to go with the flow. Life has its way of handing out lessons to us. It’s our choice and honor to get the most out of life and its valuable lessons.
Wear the Victor’s Hat. Avoid the victim mentality. Know your value. Acknowledge your successes. Meet your challenges head on and work towards achieving your goals.
Celebrate wins, both big and small. That keeps you Victory-oriented. And share your victory with others. For victory expanded is joy expanded.
Well, I know that I could go on and on …. but I’m putting a “limit” to this post. Why??? Hey, I’m one busy lady!!! In fact, I still have a pressing matter to attend to on today’s agenda!
Candy Crush Time hahaha!!!
Hmm so am I giving up this game anytime soon??? A big NOOOOO WAY!!!
And for the record, News Flash as of this second: It’s no longer just Candy CRUSH to me. It’s Candy LOVE. ❤️ *wink wink*
Having lived in a tropical country since birth has always felt like Heaven smiling upon me. How I love, love, love the awesome Philippine sun!
As a little girl, I loved
going to the beach, taking a dip in the pool, biking, going on a picnic
adventure, and enjoying the overall happy outdoorsy vibe.
I continued my invigorating
romance with the sun as I grew up with family and friends. That translated into
even more “fun in the sun!”
When I married an awesome adventure-lover,
I got to appreciate the sun still even more! We had our lovely share of romantic
getaways involving the sun. From sunset viewing (with cocktails to match the relaxed
mode) to creating sandcastles and
collecting seashells by the beach (and watching the waves wash them away aww). From
kayaking (and nearly getting trapped in a mini lagoon yikes!) to jet-skiing
(and actually falling off the jet ski, yikes never again!!! Haha!). From entering
both small and enormous caves (and wanting to get out alive immediately) to ziplining
(Oh, this I super loved! Flying in freedom!!!) ….. ohhh all these amazing
adventures under the sun!
I was always attracted to
bright and well-lit places. I found the light so magnetically appealing. And so, trips to
other beautiful countries intensified my passion for the sun all the more!
A bright sunny day automatically puts me in a great mood. I naturally feel so happy, so positive, so energetic, so enthusiastic, so in tiptop shape, so in my element! It’s no surprise that I happily identify with the sun and all its happy vibrant colors haha!
FOLLOW THE SUN. FOLLOW THE
always been part of my happy mantra. And I embrace that not only literally, but
even more so, figuratively.
I love places with beaming
light. I love people who radiate light and positivity too! These are the very people
I surround myself with. It’s a natural attraction I should say. Light loves
light. From every angle of scientific, logical, and practical consideration.
And all the more deeply, from the vantage point of the soul.
During my earlier days of
childhood (and even unto my “not-too-young” adulthood haha!), there were days
when I would sorely miss the sun. I used to feel quite melancholic and
reflective when I wouldn’t see the sun on a rainy cloudy day. Aww, Sun, my
Beloved Sun, where are you?
However, as the passing years
and seasons have taught me powerfully, the sun may not always shine visibly. And
yet, that doesn’t mean that it has left altogether. It remains there in all
its splendor and glory. It just has to set. It needs to catch some sleep. It
shares its radiance with the rest of the world too.
And so, I’ve learned to
celebrate the sun and respect it, not only in all its grandeur, but also in all
On an even more powerful level, now I’ve learned to go beyond enjoying and following the sun.
I’ve learned to look up
above in a much grander way with deepest love for and reverence to Our Creator.
I have learned to press into Him in worship and FOLLOW THE SON. Yes, His One
and Only Begotten Son. Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
And all my days are so much brighter now! (Yup, even when there’s practically no sun in sight!) For Jesus Christ is more than my Sun. He is more than my Light. He is more than my Hope. He is more than my Love. HE IS MY EVERYTHING!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
